Pracheen Chauhan's a buddhist
Pracheen Chauhan, who will be playing the character of Subh in Maat Pita Ke Charno Main Swarg, has been following Buddhism after he learnt about self realization.
He says, “I was a very normal man before; I had my weaknesses. However, for the past two years I’ve been practicing Buddhism and I started on my journey of self realization. It is a great philosophy. A few of my friends were practicing this and that is how I came to know about it. From there my journey of introspection started.”
The actor talks about the reasons he was drawn to Buddhism, saying, “There were a few years that were very bad in my life but I chose the right path. Some people choose the wrong path in life for instant success but they face problems later. I faced many difficulties but finally landed this role. I chant depending on my schedule. I feel that it helps me perform better.”
As for his physically challenged character in Maat Pita Ke Charno Main Swarg, Pracheen says, “Subh loves his parents a lot and respects them. He does not compromise on the values and tradition his parents have instilled in him. It may seem like a very unrealistic character but through this show, we hope to showcase that even if one is surrounded by negativity he can follow a positive path. We wanted to emphasis the importance of values and also pay tribute to parents via the show.”
About his own relationship with his parents, he says, “I have always stayed away from my parents. It has been this way for the past 15 years. I hardly meet them once or twice in a year. My father was in BSF so he had to move from one place to another. When I came to Mumbai, I stayed in a hostel. I am used to it so I didn’t miss them because I was so busy with my career. However, now I make it a point to talk to them once a day. I have become more expressive too. We do not have the culture of saying ‘I love you’ to our mothers but I manage to express that I care for her.”
Pracheen, who has been working as an actor for past eight years, says that though he has been doing good roles, his career has stagnated and he has been waiting for the right opportunity, which he has got with Subh in Maat Pita Ke Charno Main Swarg. The show premieres on June 29 at 7.30pm on Colors.
